The danger of coloring your hair too often

Hair coloring too often turns out to increase the risk of cancer. According to a 2001 study published in the International Journal of Cancer, women who dye their hair with permanent coloring once a month for a year are twice as likely to have bladder cancer. This risk even triples if you use permanent dyes for 15 years or more.

Another study published in the American Journal of Epidemology also showed similar evidence. Women who dye their hair eight times a year or more for 25 years have twice the risk of developing non-Hodgkin lymphoma (LNH) cancer. This cancer develops from white blood cells which can be found in lymph nodes, spleen, and other organs in the immune system.

Although some studies have provided evidence, further research is needed to help clarify the effects of too often coloring hair. However, to avoid various risks you should not do it too often. The more often you dye your hair, the more toxic exposure to your body will be.

Try using natural dyes

According to Sonya Lunder, MPH., A senior analyst at the Environmental Working Group, various natural hair dyes such as henna are safer and are recommended if you really want to dye your hair. In addition, there are many hair dyes made from natural and organic ingredients. These natural ingredients generally do not contain poisons such as those found in chemical products.

Also, if you dye your own hair at home, be sure to follow the instructions for use. Use gloves when applying it and do not leave the dye in the hair longer than it should.
